There were 9 members representing the club at the dunes race, filling 4 of the first 5 places. This small and friendly free event takes place each year, and is quite a tough challenge over 6 miles of road, beach and bridleway.
Leading the field home, Bryan Astill beat the hot and breezy conditions to record a time of 38:23, closely followed in by 2nd place Tracey Waller in 38:45. Andy Kelly, getting back into his training after his injury layoff ran 39:58 for 4th. Next, Andrew Minister was in 5th place in a time of 40:04, after cycling from work in Stockton into the strong wind.
Andy Cosgrave, looking strong and hardly breaking sweat did 46:08, with Stephen Armstrong just behind in 46:27. Peter Johnson was happy to finish in 47:40, only a couple of days before completing a 195 mile cycling challenge over the following weekend. Jon Bathe, competing for one of the Power Station teams, improved his time from 2009 by over a minute to finish in 49:31. Mike Hall ran well to finish in 19th spot and a time of 51:04.
There were 35 finishers. |
