The first cross country of 2010 took place at Whitby on Sunday 17 January in near perfect conditions, The weather was milder of late, the course muddy in many parts and Burn Road had eight men competing. Unfortunately no ladies turned out.The race over three good and varied laps was won by the evergreen Paul Lowe of NYMAC in a time of 31.51.

First home for the club and a welcome return to form was Andrew Minister in 12th place and a time of 35.07; he was followed in 14th by Vaughan "Lenny" Godber in a time of 35.23. 45seconds later was Paul Wilson in 17th place who was quickly followed by Barry Coulter in  good time of 36.42 which placed him 20th. 18seconds later was Andy Kelly in 23rd position and the final counter was Keith Galbraith in 37th position and in a time of 38.10. This brought home the team in 1st position winning by one single point. The counters were well supported by two of the club stalwarts in David Kirk finishing in 54th position in a time of 40.36 and Peter Johnson in a time of 44.37 which placed him 75th out of a total field of 93. The stalwarts being pleased with their runs and placings as both claimed some good scalps.
