Tracey Waller wins Thirsk XC

Sunday 18th November '07

Congratulations to Tracey Waller who notched-up her second victory in a row in very wet conditions at Thirsk. Tracey moved through the field to finish the race over 10 seconds clear of Middlesbrough & Cleveland's Carolyn Summersgill.

Burn Road's only other runner in the Ladies' race, Lisa Button, finished in 27th place.

In the Men's race Ross Garforth continued where he left off at Flatts Lane by being the first Burn Road finisher in 13th place. Mark Armstrong and 'Lenny' Godber had a long battle, finishing 1 second apart in 20th and 21st place respectively. Mark and Lenny were closely followed by Keith Galbraith in 23rd. Also scoring points were Simon Jones (31st)and Gary Wilson (36th).

The very wet conditions and long course (11K!) obviously appealed to the Men's team with a much bigger turnout than at Flatts Lane. The points-scorers were followed by Paul Wilson (41st), Andy Kelly (43rd), Tom Button (49th), Dave Lake (57th), Dave Edwards (60th), Mike Hall (85th), Peter Johnson (88th) and Stephen Armstrong (104th). The strong turnout resulted in an improved position for the Men's team, placed 2nd overall.

The next fixture is on 13th January 2008 at Caedmon School, Whitby.
