Old Monks' Race

This year saw a strong field for the Annual Old Monks' race with over 100 runners completing the course.

The race was won by Christopher Lamb of Chester-le-Street in a time of 32:49. Former Burn Road Harrier Gary Grounds, now of Billingham Marsh House, was second, with Burn Road's Andy Minister in third.

Carolyn Summersgill of Middlesbrough & Cleveland won the Ladies' race in 14th position overall. Burn Road's Tracey Waller was second lady, and first Female Vet in 21st position overall.

The race proved very profitable for Burn Road in the veterans' categories. Mark Armstrong (5th) was first Vet 40, Karl Edwards (19th) was first Vet 50 and Geoff Gardner (57th) was first Vet 60.

Other Burn Road Harriers to complete the course were 'Lenny' Godber (4th), Chris Butcher (7th), Keith Galbraith (9th), Andy Kelly (11th), Tom Button (22nd), Dave Edwards (24th), Dave Lake (28th), Dave Sinden (35th), Dave Kirk (41st), Mike Hall (47th), Michael Brunskill (54th), Dave Wallace (78th), Steven Armstrong (87th) and Felicity Beedle (91st).
