North Eastern Cross Country Championships

Summerhill, Saturday 8th December '07

This year's North Eastern Cross Country championships were held on home ground, but after a couple of weeks of rain and a few hundred runners the ground itself was knee-deep in mud.

The home advantage worked in Mark Armstrong's favour as he was first Burn Road home for the first time this season, finishing 50th overall. Another very strong run from Keith Galbraith (54th) meant that he was within half a minute of Mark for the second race in a row. Three more Burn Road Harriers were separated by just 4 places: Andy Kelly (90th), Ross Garforth (92nd) and Karl Edwards (94th). The sixth Burn Road Harrier to count was Tom Button (107th), bringing the team home in a creditable 7th out of 20 teams, just 6 points ahead of Darlington!

The points scorers were followed by Dave Lake (110th), Dave Edwards (132nd), Peter Johnson (194th) and Dave Wallace (210th).

A very big THANK YOU to all involved in organising, setting-up the course and Marshalling. It was not a pleasant day to stand outside for a few hours and this excellent event could not have happened without you!
